Looking after ourselves

Re: Living with Ourselves

@eudemonism

working on boats would be wonderful...especially near the ocean....

you enjoy fishing too don't you....

I can just imagine Mister sitting up front of the boat .....

working dogs have lots of energy yes....perhaps look at his needs as helping yours...giving you a reason for getting out of the house is very good....avoiding isolating...

as for the garden ....everchanging is one of the magical things about gardens...you can add...detract...prune...shape...your own creativity with nature...

@outlander is in a similar situation I think...still waiting?

you should swap notes and give the feedback to your doctors...

the medical world is one big system of eliminate this that...then next...

husband had 12 month review for heart today...all good about his aorta...medication working well...

needs to check chest pain with gp now as his heart is in good condition...she confirmed that he is very fit for his age...

incredible...smokes....eats butter...salt...sugary delights...chocolate...everything that he should not...his blood pressure is perfect...cholesterol fine...

I went to the pool and am about to go and lay down now...rest before starting dinner...wholemeal fettucine with home made bolognaise sauce a la Sophia style....

take care all xx

ps thinking of you @Maggie letting you know as with you @Former-Member...stay safe...xxxCat HappyHeart

Re: Living with Ourselves

sounds like a good day @Sophia1 my friend and dinner sounds yummy too Heart

Re: Living with Ourselves

Yea @Sophia1 working on the boats was great when everything was going well. (Has anything ever really gone that well?)
Yea i do look at providing The dog with his needs as having a healthy influence on myself. However it never seems to end. He is very needy and demanding really.
And yes, the garden is always changing. I'm thinking... the less work i have to do out there the better...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello everyone

I thought I might post some quotes...rather than attempt conversing...

too much going on...

so hope that you get something out of them even if only distraction...

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1 I'm a bit disgruntled to hear 'there's lots going' for you... as i compare it to my situation and know, it can get rather hectic and overwhelming...
Don't forget all the helpful and supportive people in the forums, and the number of phone call centres (which are based around dealing with mhi & life)
I've just got off the phone with chemists, instead of buying ciggies, I'm hoping i can get some more natural based remedies, example supplements and concentrated amino acids, chemicals, vitamins, oils ecetra... worth a shot?

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1 Thanks, they're excellent sayings.

I may be waiting for my hernia operation for many months (referral to public hospital).

I still haven't got over the shock yet.

Sorry to hear that things are still tough at your end.

Kind thoughts....

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @eudemonism

I am not comparing my struggles....

do not wish to offend anyone..

the idea of quotes was instead of saying the wrong thing...

I do know that sometimes there are no words that can match feelings..

I do not believe in taking vitamins unless prescribed by a specialist ...lack of something determined by blood tests..

my opinion only...not advice..

lovely warm weather here today...have just finished watering pots...plants...now having a rest....

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hello @Adge

Nice to hear from you...

Public health system is a nightmare...

The government have to do something about this sooner than later...

I hope that you are not in too much discomfort...

I can't talk about "family member" as situation has changed....I am concerned about the outcome...Also have to be even more careful about confidentiality...

As you know yourself....having our own mind issues and having others in the family not doing well is extremely draining...

Hope that you are getting much enjoyment from your garden ....

I am enjoying the garden at the rental place...

I have to keep stopping myself as I am wanting to do so much...

Slowly slowly ...steady...the tortoise and the hare...Cat HappyHeart

Re: Living with Ourselves

Hi @Sophia1 Yes, I have several family members (interstate) with major MH issues. Yet they deny they have any.

I'm the one who tries to "own" my CPTSD without denial - yet I'm seen as the "strange" or ill one (by relatives). I'm by far the most functional (or "normal") of all of them, according to my psychologist.

Yes, draining - after only a few days with my relatives (interstate), I'm totally drained.

The emotional impact of needing a further (4th) surgery is high - because the hernia has been directly caused by the bowel surgeons (previous surg) leaving the wound split.

They would not re-stitch the wound closed, when they removed the staples too early (they said).

So the wide scar which formed over (to close it) is exactly where I now have a hernia (2 in fact).

Completely avoidable, were it not for being left in that state.

Talking about gardening & flowers is always enjoyable (for me), even though I've not been doing any.
