Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

@nashy

There is limited job opportunities in our area. It makes it very difficult.

To better your job opportunities you need to travel further out.

Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

Hey there @Sim1  I am so sorry to hear that people retreat like that. It's pretty incredible how scared people are of dealing with a very real, a very vulnerable part of life.

And this is something that many people experience, it's a shame parts of society have not caught up. Please know that within this virtual community, we hear you. We definitely would like to honour your grief and your cotinuing bond with your son. Thank you for sharing Heart And well done on the advocacy!

Thank you heaps 💞

Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

Gosh that is frustrating @BlueBay  How far do people tend to travel?

Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

My son travels over an hour for uni. @nashy

For work anywhere from 1/2 to an hour for better job opportunities.

My d worked in a shopping centre that was over an hour to get to wirk. Then on way home it would take longer because if traffic. She was in a specialised area and no jobs around our town. It makes it hard.

Alrighty crew moving onto Q3!

There’s always strategies when it comes to our mental health and re-connecting with our needs. What are some ways of connecting with like-minded peers in regional areas?

Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

I put up notices on community boards. I didn't get any response. The internet gives anonymity & people definitely respond when they have that.

Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

I like the idea of yoga classes x

Re: Topic Tuesday // Loneliness in smaller communities // Tues 26th March, 7pm AEDT

Love this @Sim1  and @BlueBay  Yoga classes are so lovely as it encompasses so many wonderful things for our mental health, as well as gentle social connection. It's also a practice that tends to encourage openness and vulnerability 🙂 Lovely.
