Re: A long rave

So happy for you @eth re NDIS. I can tell it's an enormous relief and it's so good to hear you sounding hopeful.

"Learn from yesterday, live for today, hope for tomorrow" - attributed to Albert Einstein.

Re: A long rave

I am really trying to rest up as much as I can in these holidays @eth because it is going to be a lot tougher having the class for the term. It will mean a lot more work but they are a really lovely bunch of kids so that part I am looking forward to. I have already done some planning with getting assessent records ready for the class - and this week I will print out, read and make myself even more familiar with the special needs of some of the students (most I already know about but it will be good to have a much closer look at their learning plans and what I need to consider moving forward with the planning). Despite being really nervous about this term I am also looking forward to it - only time will tell how I go!

Re: A long rave

Good old Tobes @Zoe7 🐶

Not much on my end. Dropped mum off at station and sister will be the same soon. Will have house to myself for a couple of hours. Will probably look what we need for food this week. Sister and me hate grocery shopping now so if possible we may get it delivered.

Other than that not much here.

Enjoy your day my cool cat compadre

Re: A long rave

You are such a dedicated teacher @Zoe7  you really impress me constantly.

Hi @MDT

Delayed reply as I was checking out and enquiring with a specialist driver training organisation that is owned by a psychologist and an occupational therapist.  Really hoping there's some way my plan manager can find of getting it funded by NDIS (emailed her too), but also asking for a quote to do it out of my own pocket if necessary.  It looks like $180 to $200 per hour - and who knows how many hours I'd need to do.  More than I had anticipated, but still a real investment in my future if I can manage to do it.  Will see what the outcome is.  It would have to come out of my meagre savings (only a few thousand) which are really my emergency back-up.  I'll never know if I don't do the research tho' so fingers crossed it turns out to be possible.

Re: A long rave

A couple of hours to yourself sounds great @MDT Just had a chat to my mum. She wants me to go to the Lionsvs Hawthorn game in Launceston in a couple of weeks. I have said no for now as it is the end of the first week back at school and I know I am going to be really tired and super busy. It is not likely to be a sold out game so I will be able to change my mind closer to that weekend if I am doing better than expected. I don't think that will be the case though and to be honest I would much rather watch it at home than travel the couple of hours to get there and the same back home.

Re: A long rave

Thanks @eth That is really lovely of you to say. I do love my job - just find it hard to get there most days. I am very much hoping that getting back into the classroom with just one class changes that a bit this term and that it helps me find that love of teaching a little more.

I am super impressed that you want to learn to drive. It sucks about the cost but very much hoping you can use some funding to enable you to do that. It sounds to me like just the sort of thing that the NDIS should fund to allow you to have more independence - go you Smiley Very Happy

Re: A long rave

Thanks a lot @frog

@Zoe7   We asked for it at the review meeting and the NDIS planner said "if you had a physical disability I would approve it".  My response was "so you can't see my disability or else you'd cover it"  and my Coordinator of supports told her the name of the company, their specialised training, and even the NDIS price guide line item no.  But it looks like it didn't get approved anyway - should know for sure tomorrow.

My psychiatrist and psychologist both said that what the planner said was out and out discrimination, but I am wary of doing a complaint or request for review of that decision, as it would mean they review my whole plan - unfair but that's the way the NDIS rolls.

Re: A long rave

That is discrimination @eth but I can also see why you don't necessarily want to challenge it - such a big decision to make in respect to what the consequences could be. Being on the receiving end of discrimination recently I fully understand the unfairness involved - especially when you see others being afforded the same or similar but you being silenced ...not something easy to live with in any regard.

Re: A long rave

What happened to you re recent discrimination @Zoe7 ?  That's if you want to talk about it, fine if you don't?

Re: A long rave

Can't talk about it here @eth but let's say it has further added to my reluctance to connect or post anything and feel like I have a voice anywhere.
