Re: Help!

I'm pretty sure it's school. He wants to reinvent himself, and I think he feels he can't be who he wants to be with the friendship group he has...or had...he's completely blocked them. Don't know if changing schools is a good or bad idea. Would LOVE him to talk to someone so we could get some idea of where to go! In the meantime, we'll wait, keep him safe, and let him know he's loved.
Thank you for your words...they really helped!

Re: Help!

TideisTurning:

Decompression, privacy  not having family

members in your face, especially if there are mental/emotional and family issues. The bedroom is the only place a teen can escape to, running away or suicide are the only other alternatives. Op should be thankful that their son chooses the bedroom.

Re: Help!

Lilwigs:

Try an empathic psychologist that he can talk to. He probably feels like he can't open up to you. Make sure he gets enough food and water but other than that give him space and respect and don't interrogate him or demand he be a certain way. If he's being bullied in school then a change is in order.
